In the Altmühltal Nature Park you will find several stone quarries and fossil collection sites for a thrilling and unusual treasure hunting.

The Altmühltal Nature Park is a fossiliferous region known all over the world! Besides the famous “primeval bird” Archaeopteryx (the link in the evolutionary chain that connects reptiles to birds), the fossils of dangerous predatory fishes, marine snails, pterosaurs and primeval insects have been found here, too. In the Altmühltal Nature Park even budding explorers can open limestone slabs easily with a hammer and a chisel... thus the search for fossil becomes an amusing “treasure hunt” for the whole family!
