The Altmühltal Nature Park’s religious art is well known all round the world. Just think about the Benedictine Weltenburg Monastery with its gorgeous church by the Asam brothers, the imposing Cathedral of Eichstätt, the Maria Brünnlein sanctuary Basilica in Wemding or the remains of the St. Sola Basilica in Solnhofen, which was built 1,300 years ago - all this masterpieces witness to the Christian faith and heritage in the region from the early Irish missionaries up to present days.
