Archaeological Museum on Roman Spa Culture

Römisches Museum für Kur- und Badewesen

The nave of the church of St. Andrew in the old town of Bad Gögging is located right over the central pool of the ancient Roman baths. Today, the "Römisches Museum für Kur- und Badewesen" (Archaeological Museum on Roman Spa Culture) is housed there.

At the museum it is possible to visit different rooms of the thermae, such as the main bath with its big pool and four single tubs. The underfloor heating system (hypocaust) is well discernible in the whole bath complex. The information boards on the spot explain function and use of bath tools as well as the Roman bath practice in general. In front of the Roman Museum there is the early Christian portal of the church of St. Andrew, which is a rarity of art history.
